T-shirt sewing pattern for woman. Slightly fitted straight cut. Leg of mutton sleeves. Short or long sleeves option. 3 collar options: round collar with neckline band, high collar or turtleneck (rather loose). Bottom hem on sleeves and body.

Sewing level: easy

Knit: cotton jersey or cotton-elastane or viscose, interlock, rib. As an option, the sleeves can be made in a stretch mesh.

Tips: the t-shirt is designed originally with a simple hem at the bottom of the sleeve. If you want to make the bottom sleeve with an extensible bias binding, just : 1- cut the bottom of the sleeves by the seam value of the hem (you don’t need this margin anymore), 2- cut an extensible bias binding of the length of the bottom of the sleeves (length measured flat), 3- align the bias binding along the bottom of the sleeves still open (before sewing the under sleeves); first put the open bias binding and the edge with right side together, then stitch, fold the bias binding and stitch on the wrong side…. then stitch the under sleeves together.

*one of the photos shows the t-shirt with sleeves in another fabric (mesh), if you want to make long or short sleeves in another fabric, you will need the yardage indicated by size in the table above. The necessary yardage for the main fabric “body and collar” is then to be reduced by : -35cm (3/8 yard) from 32 to 40, -40cm (1/2 yard) from 42 to 52 for long sleeves only. For the short sleeve version: use the requirements indicated for the main fabric + specific requirement for short sleeves in another fabric.

If you want to add bias binding at sleeve bottoms, you will need 40 to 50cm of a stretch binding

Size chart

For women:

The women’s patterns are available in French sizes from 34 up to 46 (or from 32 up to 52 on recent patterns) with an average height of 165 cms. For simplicity in size selection, ikatee patterns are created from standard commercial sizes. However, depending on your morphology, you may find some differences with your commercial size. It is recommended that you first take your measurements and choose the most suitable pattern size.

If you hesitate between 2 sizes, it is better to choose the one you take in the shops (corresponding to the French sizes).

Note : the assembly steps are identical for the women’s pattern, just knowing that the seam allowances for the women’s pattern are 1cm and not 0.7cm as for the kid’s pattern.
